- A German buyer asks a fictional engineering-goods exporter for the cradle-to-gate footprint of one product, per unit.
- The team builds the footprint from four parts: steel, using the supplier’s own footprint; a share of the plant’s emissions; packaging; and inbound transport.
- Two parts rest on primary data and two on averages, each with its evidence, and the footprint shows its share of primary data.
- The footprint is finalised and sent to the buyer in the format they asked for.

Can our own suppliers send us their footprints?
Yes. A footprint can use a supplier’s own product footprint, and suppliers can send you data and evidence without a login.
Does Sustano prepare CBAM declarations?
No. The regulation tracker indicates whether CBAM may apply to you. Sustano does not prepare CBAM declarations or calculate CBAM embedded emissions.
