LTIFR (lost time injury frequency rate)
A workplace safety rate: the number of injuries that caused lost working time, relative to the hours worked, usually expressed per million person-hours.
The lost time injury frequency rate (LTIFR) measures how often injuries that cause lost working time occur, relative to the total hours worked:
LTIFR = number of lost time injuries × 1,000,000 ÷ total person-hours worked
The multiplier sets the basis; one million person-hours is common. Check the current BRSR format for the exact basis it uses and for how employees and workers are reported.
The two inputs usually come from different places: injury records from the safety function and hours worked from HR or payroll. Keep both as evidence, by facility and month, so the rate can be re-performed.
